Dr. John Strobeck founded and is past Co-Editor in Chief of the bimonthly, peer-reviewed journal Congestive Heart Failure, circulated among 26,000 US cardiologists. He also participated as a founding member of the Heart Failure Society of America and has served as Treasurer, Chairman of the Advocacy Committee, and as a member of the Society’s Executive Council. He has pioneered in the development of new cardiovascular technologies, including Impedance Cardiography and Enhanced External Counterpulsation.
Dr. Strobeck currently serves as Director of the Heart Failure Program of the Valley Hospital, Ridgewood, NJ, and the founder and director of the Heart-Lung Center, Hawthorne, NJ, an outpatient, comprehensive, multi-specialty care center specializing in Cardiopulmonary Disease Management and Prevention.
A native of York, Pennsylvania, Dr. Strobeck earned his Bachelor of Science degree at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, and his Ph.D. (Cardiovascular Physiology) and M.D. degrees from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, Boston, MA, and a clinical instructorship at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Strobeck also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in cardiology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY, where he later served as Assistant Professor of Medicine. He is licensed to practice medicine in NJ, PA, NY, MA, and CT.
A diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners, the American Boards of Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases, and the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology, Dr. Strobeck is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology (ACC). In addition to the ACC, he holds memberships in the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the American Heart Association, the New York Academy of Sciences, the Society of Nuclear Cardiology, and the Heart Failure Society of America. Dr. Strobeck is on the active medical staff of The Valley Hospital, Ridgewood, NJ, where he has served as co-director of Interventional Cardiology, Director of the Coronary Care Unit, and currently is the Director of the Heart Failure Program.
Dr. Strobeck has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, including New England Journal of Medicine, American Journal of Cardiology. Circulation, Journal of the American Medical Association, American Journal of Physiology, and many others.
