This iHeart pedal MRA was taken with no radiation, in a patient with high lipids and high blood pressure, but no previous diagnosis of atherosclerotic disease or cardiac interventions. This iScan shows that the anterior tibial artery and dorsalis pedia artery are both occluded above the foot.
The posterior tibial artery is patent and forms the plantar arch which is intact. Four digital arteries are visualized arising from the plantar arcuate artery. The peroneal artery is just visible at the level of the ankle mortise.
If you diagnose or treat peripheral artery disease (PAD) in patients with diabetes and/or renal insufficiency, iHeart can image these patients (as shown below) with no gadolinium and no radiation.
